Sagada Rediscovered

September 27-29, 2008

Number of Slots: 12

Re-experience Sagada like never before. Famous for its “hanging coffins” , burial caves, waterfalls and rice terraces, Sagada sits at a high kilometer and a half above sea level in central Cordillera surrounded by the Cordillera Ranges and the Ilocos Range.

A famous destination for backpackers, artists, and hippies since the 70s, now Sagada has grown to become a common favorite for many local tourists. Now solidly Anglican thanks to the Missionaries of the 60s, it is no wonder that the Igorots here are keen to communicate better in English to any visitor rather than in Filipino. Although fairly developed with its numerous Inns and internet cafés and growing population of foreigners, the town retains its peaceful culture which incidentally, over the years, has embraced and integrated tourism into the everyday life.

A backpackers paradise for many yet unmistakeably authentic in its own right, Sagada never tires to awe its visitors with its wonderful blend of natural wonders and western traits.

Join Cordillera Expeditions this September 26-29, 2008 as we rediscover this peaceful town. Experience the lively Saturday market, followed by quiet walks through pine-covered trails that open up to magnificent lookouts. Sleep under the stars next to the calm lapping of the lake, and visit the waterfalls and swim in the refreshing basins. Enter the caves and discover the hidden pools…and just live.

To sign up for the Sagada Rediscovered send us an email with the completed participant form at: cordiexpeditions@gmail.com

We require 50% of the fee to reserve your slot on the expedition.
Payment options through: BPI and BDO

Fee: PhP10000***
***Invite 2 of your friends to join our trips and get 20% off the fee!
***Repeat participants of Cordillera Expeditions get 10% off!

Inclusive of:
Travel to and from Manila
Travel within Ifugao
Food and Snacks for 3 Days
Lodging for 2 nights
Guides
Travel Insurance

***Carbon Neutral Trip: We at Cordillera Expeditions recognize our responsibility to the planet and would like to make our trips as Carbon Neutral as possible. Your fee also includes the planting of tree seedlings to offset the amount of CO2 that will be produced during the Expedition.

Interested Parties send us an email at: cordiexpeditions@gmail.com

Where: Unit 602 Cityland 10 Tower 2, H.V. Dela Costa St. Salcedo Village, Makati City, behind RCBC Tower. http://www.photosbykengo.com/misc/map.jpg

Maximum of 10 Participants
Topics:
1. Types of commonly used studio lights
2. Light modifiers
3. Trigerring lights
4. Measuring light
5. Light positions
6. Types of portrait lighting
7. Dealing with models
8. Portable wireless lighting (Strobist)

1st day of seminar will be on discussion of the topics, there will be no shooting to be done. Though there will be a hands-on practice in measuring lights using a flash meter. You will not be required to bring anything during the 1st day.

2nd day, scheduled shoots for the group (9am, 1pm and 4pm), models will be provided. Participants should only come on their time slot, to avoid over crowding. During the shoot, each participant will be asked to conceptualize a lighting set-up to be done with their model, other participants on the same group will be assisting. After the participant finishes the shoot, other participant on the group will do the same, so the previous participant will now be acting as the assistant. (round robin system) this guarantees a hands-on set-up, thus learning from actually doing it rather than just listening. This will also make sure that the participant will the only one shooting at the time of his/her set-up, so he/she gets all the needed angles to complete the shoot, no more wrestling for a spot just to get the photo.

3rd day, Portable wireless lighting discussion, includes gear needed and how to apply basic lighting techniques to this type of set-up. For the Critique session we will allow fellow students and me to critique ones work, as they say getting better needs one to realize its faults as to make sure to correct it the next possible time.
