The festival highlights this one of a kind Filipino heritage, dating back to the pre-Spanish era, aiming to rediscover the region's music, literature, and rituals, among other things.

The Sumakah Festival, which is celebrated every 1st of May, highlights the major products of Antipolo (such as the suman, mangga, and kasuy) and their olden means of transportation (the Hamaka). The festival celebrates the entire cultural and historical heritage of the city, with street dancing competitions, cultural presentations, and a number of fairs and exhibits.
